Austin, Texas, June 14, 2021 – JMJ, a global consulting firm specializing in transforming people, performance and culture, is proud to announce the latest phase in its partnership with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea.
Building on the success of a recent joint project which achieved a remarkable 43 million craft worker hours without a lost time incident (LTI), this latest collaboration will expand JMJ’s award winning Incident and Injury-Free™ (IIF™) safety approach across DSME’s shipyard. Senior leadership at both organizations will work closely together to implement a safety transformation program, develop a sustainable, best-in-class safety culture and strengthen existing safety management systems.
“JMJ is proud to continue its successful partnership with DSME in their ongoing commitment to achieving extraordinary safety performance throughout the organization,” said Anthony Park, JMJ’s Korea and Japan Business Unit Leader. “This level of partnership not only sets a new benchmark for what DSME is capable of achieving but is also the foundation for their future endeavors. DSME is the model that sets the bar for what is possible across the world’s shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry.”
The first joint activity in this new phase was a three-day workshop attended by DSME’s safety and production professionals, department heads and representatives of subcontractors. The focus was to understand DSME’s unique technical and non-technical challenges in safety, set out a step-by-step strategy roadmap, and re-establish leadership’s commitment and vision for the future.
“Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering is committed to creating a high-performance safety leadership and culture,” said Du-Seon Park, Vice President at DSME. “The workshop led by JMJ has given us a clear path to an accident and injury free future which we will now actively pursue across our organization.”
JMJ has laid a solid foundation to build a people-centred safety culture at DSME and will continue to work with senior leadership to generate a sustainable impact across the organization. The strength of the partnership between JMJ and DSME has been widely recognized, with the safety and performance improvements delivered setting a new benchmark for safety cultures within the shipbuilding industry. In Phase 2, DSME will continue to focus on capability building and alignment programs to build a high-performance organization.
